Movie Marathon Over

This post is coming later then usual.  We had decided since Louis hurt his back and has to rest that we would watch the whole Harry Potter series in 2 days.  We watched 4 on the first day and the last 4 we finished today.  I had completely forgotten how the series ended.  Going to be honest here and say that I read 6 books out of the series, I never finished the last one.  I have an issue with that it seems.  I have to force myself to finish books when they are part of a series, in a way it feels like I am loosing a friend or something sentimental and corny like that.  I have yet to finish the Inkheart series, the julia child life in france book and a host of others.
Back to the subject of the movies.  Holy crap they are long.
Off to go tidy up the house now, looks like a tornado went through it thanks to the toddler.

HP

no not the sauce.

Currently sitting through a Harry Potter marathon.  We started at 8:30 this morning and it is now 6pm.  Apparently this will be a 2 day affair since we are only on the 4th movie.  I had forgotten how crazy and messed up his aunt, uncle and cousin are.  Also, how great would it be to have an owl, so much cheaper then having to use canada post and you would never have mice.
A magic wand with a spell to clean the house would be amazing too.  Who should I speak to about this?

MCCM(july week2)

We have reached a milestone in our challenge.  We are now on the 2nd shelf and have started the E's.  Some movies weren't as bad as I remembered them being and others I understand a bit more this time around.  We are doing really well now with the movie watching since there is not much new on t.v. for the summer.  The extreme heat causes us to stay indoors a lot also.  Excuse me while I go back to watching tonights movie.

MCCM(july week1)

We have been flying through movies the past couple of days.  7 of them have been watched.  We decided to skip over National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and watch it closer to Christmas.  We have 4 movies left in the "C" category, nothing new on t.v. means we watch at least one movie almost every night.
Kid movies are reserved to be watched when Ollie is up, he usually watches while he plays.

(not our shelf but we have pretty much all those movies)

MCC(2 posts in one week)

Alright, so we managed to watch 2 movies in one night.  Louis ended up liking Butterfly Effect this time around, I guess it's because he actually understood it.  The first of our C's majorly sucked.  On the cover it says that lots of people liked it, received awards and even compares it to Hitchcock.  It's such a slow moving, boringly shot, with a monotone actor and I still don't know who did what.  We went to bed very disappointed and have decided that Caché is not going back into the cabinet.
On a happier note, Catch me if you can is still a great movie.

MCCM(june 2011)

We have one movie left in the B category, I will admit that we changed the order a little bit, we wanted a comedy not a drama on one night and have been on track since then.  Last movie left is The Butterfly Effect with Ashton Kutcher, Louis doesn't like this movie at all but we will watch it together anyways.
Our first movies for the C's is an unknown to both of us, Caché.  IMDb has rated it a 7.3/10 and classified it as a drama thriller mystery.  Hoping it is good.

MCCM week#9-10

Alright, we finally made it through the Bourne movies.  We have 5 movies left in the 'B' category. An alternating mix of Drama-Thrillers and Comedies.  We have been watching the last episodes of our favourite shows for this season, some pretty dramatic things are happening.  I missed the episode of Castle because I thought it was an old one last night.  Guess I am going to have to find it online to figure out what the big cliffhanger is.  If i'm right pretty much all of the shows finishes up this week.  That means that it will be pretty much dedicated movie watching after.  Promises promises but we are determined to get this thing done with, eventually.

MCCM week#8

Alright, we really suck.  Last week we only managed to watch 2 movies, well technically 1.5 movies, we fell asleep half way through the first Bourne movie.  It has nothing to do with the quality or our thoughts on the movie, we just picked the wrong time to watch it, I think it was 10pm when we started.  It is supposed to be rainy most of this week so I am hopping to be able to get some moving watching in.  Over Easter we got 2 more movies to add to the list.  The Kings Speech and Fantasia.  We have decided to watch all the Disney cartoons together.

MCCT week#6 & 7

Yesterday was spent outside in the backyard because it was the last day of nice weather for the week.  We spent the day fixing up our fence and making it taller.  Here is the re-cap for the past 2 weeks of MCC.
We got through 6 movies in two weeks, we are really having a hard time keeping up with the schedule we put in place.  This run included two movies starring Martin Lawrence, I noticed that both of those movies look heavily green-screened.  Blue crush was squeezed between those two and now I really, really want to go to the beach.  Next up to the plate is Bon Cop Bad Cop, a comedic action that is really much better when you understand french because some of the jokes just don't work when translated.  Then we will venture into the world of Jason Bourne.

MCCM week#5

The past 2 weeks have not been very productive on the movie watching front.  The weather has been nice so we have been spending more time outside.  I have worked the past couple of weekends and when I finish up at work we go out to run errands.  I think we are going to need to re-evaluate our movie watching schedule and time frame for finishing this challenge.  Next movie up is My Big Fat Greek Wedding and will more then likely be watched tonight.

28.3.11

MCCM week#3

So this week went pretty well, we finished up the A's.  Re-watching An Inconvenient Truth makes me wonder what the new data is showing, have we gotten worse or better?  I was starting to get discouraged that we were still on the first letter of the alphabet.  Next movie on the list is Bad News Bears with Billy Bob Thorton, hooray for drunken baseball coaches.

21.3.11

MCCM week#2

We had a busy busy week.  Didn't watch a single movie.  Planing of watching a few tonight with a trip to the grocery store in between.  Over the weekend we went to Toronto and got a new movie to add to the challenge.  My mom got the Bambi Blue Ray for Olivier.  I need to organize our VHS collection and eventually bring the VHS player back upstairs.

14.3.11

MCCM week#1

I have decided to make Mondays our MCC update day for the previous week.  I find that if I keep all of you updated on the challenge it will motivate us to keep going.  Our first week went well, we watched a total of 8 movies, 1 short of our weekly goal but I worked on Thursday night and got back home to late to watch a movie.  Up to know the movies that we watched were enjoyable, I didn't remember that 28 days later was so quiet and that the characters in along came polly were so annoying.  Next up on our list is A Lot Like Love with Ashton Kutcher and Amanda Peet, I think I have only seen the movie once, one of those things were it was cheaper to buy it then to rent it.
1 week down, 50+ weeks to go.

7.3.11

A big mission

We have been debating taking on this huge endeavour for a while now.  It is something that Jamie over at Grumbles & Grunts started doing a little over a year ago.  Her and her husband decided to watch every single movie that they owned, in alphabetical order, by genre.  There were a bunch of reasons behind this but one of the main ones was because they noticed that they owned tons of movies and would only watch a select few. They called it the Movie Closet Challenge (MCC).  Since we keep our movies in a cabinet and not a closet we have decided to name it the Movie Cabinet Challenge.  When we moved into the house I put our movies away in alphabetical order starting with the ones titled with numbers.  We are starting with those, then we will work through the movies and finish it off with T.V. series and comedy specials.  I have added a tab up at the top of the blog dedicated to this challenge, it lists the movies that are coming up and the ones we have watched.  We started on Sunday the 6th and have gotten through the movies titled with numbers.  Not too bad if I say so myself.  We will try and average a movie a day during the week and 2 a day on weekends.  If I calculated it properly, it should take us about a year.
