Movie Date Night

A lot of our time recently has been focused on the basement, we finally got to the point where we filled in all the holes and patched up the ones we cut to run wires.  The drywall compound we chose is the low dust version, when you sand it it all just falls to the ground instead of flying around and getting into your nose. The issue is with it is that it takes a long time to dry, up to 24 hrs.  Since we came to a standstill with our renovations we did what everyone else would do and decided to go to the movies.  I'm pretty antisocial, I don't like huge groups and I really don't like people up in my personal bubble.  So why go to the movies on a Saturday night then?  Because we haven't been in a while and I really wanted to see the new Bond movie.  We got there an hour before the show and it was already sold out, holy crap.  Looking up at the board to survey our other choices we landed on Wreck It Ralph 3D.  It was seeing that or going home and I didn't go all the way to the theatre to just turn back around.  We settled into our seat with our big bag of popcorn and our massive pop, put on our glasses and crossed our fingers that it wouldn't be too busy.  We really enjoyed the movie, i'm glad that we didn't decide to bring Ollie to see it, he wouldn't of kept the glasses on and parts of it would of probably freaked him out.  It was great to see all of the bad guys from our youth all pilled into one movie.  Oh how I missed qbert.
I'm a big fan of Mario.  What's your favourite video game?

Date Night

We just got back from Louis' company christmas party, my god was it ever entertaining.  My ears are currently angry with me that I put them through that loud of music.  I would have to say that I am a chair dancer, If i'm sitting I will dance around but once standing I have no clue what to do with my feet and I just get mixed up from over thinking.  They actually played 2 slow songs, we danced to those, spinning around in a slow circle is easy enough that I can manage.  Lot's of them will probably be taking cabs home tonight, they rang up a big tab in booze.  The food was alright, a cocktail type buffet because they have too many employees this year.
I think that I'll go to bed now since I am starting to get a headache.
Good night and no I am not drunk.

Neighbourhood discoveries

My friend Joanie came over this weekend and brought her mom (my 2nd mom) with her.  On Saturday Ollie decided that he didn't want to nap, he just wanted to scream and wail.  We decided to go for a walk to see if he would fall asleep in his stroller.  We knew that they were building a path system near our house but had no clue how far along they were with the project so we decided to go check it out.  Turns out we can almost get the the other side of town if we really wanted to.  It is a nice gravel path that follows a river/creek most of the way, it goes up and down in tons of places so it makes it a bit more of a challenge then just a flat trail.  The tail was covered in colourful leaves, we had tons of wind the day before.  Because we were scrambling to get out the door for our walk we didn't bring a camera with us, oops.  The walk was exactly what Ollie needed, 15min into the walk he was out like a light.
On a side note Ollie got a special surprise this weekend.  Joanie's mom, an avid sewer and quilter made him a beautiful christmas stocking. I was going to take a picture of it but there isn't enough light right now.

One of those rotating hobbies.

While we were up at my grandmothers house last week we started Geocaching again.  Out of curiosity we checked the website to see if there were any in the area(my grandmother lives in the middle of nowhere in northern quebec, her town has a population of about 250 people and it will be celebrating 100 years in 2012).  We really didn't thing there would be any but low and behold there were some, nice sized ones too.  We went out one afternoon before supper to hunt for some Tupperware.  We had 3 of them in mind, found the first, looked for the second one and ended up getting bitten by bugs that I didn't recognize, for the third one there were way too many people around to hunt for it.  This little adventure has re-awakend an urge.  When ever we go out now we bring along our GPS that we have loaded with caches in the area.  We have found 16 since we restarted.  We might be a little obsessed, again.
Do you Geocache?

Busy bees

Louis has been off since Monday and has been busy around the house since, he is putting the cabinet doors up in the kitchen. Tuesday we had a visit with the paediatrician and today we went to the children's hospital to get some x-rays done.  We are still trying to rule out if there is a real reason for Ollie's small size or if it just because he's a preemie.  Yesterday Ollie turned 10 months old, so he is corrected to 7 months old.  He is now sitting unassisted for short periods of time, babbling a lot more, seems to be on his way to saying either mama or dada, we will see what one he chooses.  He rolls from back to front, front to side, pushes himself up onto his elbows.  He also sat in a shopping cart for the first time on Tuesday, he was padded with our coats so he would fit.  Time has gone by so quickly, it does not seem that long ago that we brought him home.  We are getting ready for our first Christmas with the little man.  The tree is up and decorated, the presents are wrapped and Ollie's stocking is made.  Only a few days left.  We will be spending part of Christmas day in the car and the other part with my family and will be with Louis' family on the 26th.  I am off to go make some cookies.  What are you doing for the holidays this year?

24hrs of firsts

Dear Ollie,
The past 24hrs have been full of firsts.  Last night you held the bottle all by yourself to drink, you did a pretty good job of it.  Today you wore jeans for the first time, actually it was the first time you wore pants with a zipper too.  We sat you in a restaurant highchair, you didn't quite fit so we added some padding.  Another big thing, we got our first family Christmas tree, we got it at Ikea, when you will be a bit bigger we will go and cut it ourselves.  You are growing up so quickly.  Oh, please remember to gain some weight before Wednesday, we are getting annoyed of going to the doctors office.
Love, your mom

From my iPod

Just a quick post for nablopomo. We went to Montreal yesterday to visit Louis' parents and to go to Ikea because they didn't have what we wanted at the store in Ottawa. There were lots of people being very pushy and inconsiderate. Then I got ketchup on my shirt. Now we are home having supper and watching a movie. It's good to be home.

Mom's Birthday

IT SUCKED!!!  (let me explain)

  • Louis woke me up with a nice bouquet of flowers(nothing sucked about that)
  • As I was coming downstairs I heard a few choice words from Louis
  • Then I saw why..... He dropped my cake....  :(
  • I insisted on attempting to save it, he just wanted me to open my presents
  • I picked up the cake with our massive blue spatula and my icing knife and told him that it was o.k., half the cake was still fine.
  • I sat on the couch and proceded to open my presents.  I then understood why Louis didn't want me to pick up the cake.
  • I got a cake lifter and a baker scraper.... those would of been the exact thing it would of taken to pick up the splatered mess.
  • I also got a cake holder/storage and a decorating turn table thing
  • Ollie got me an awesome camera bag.  It looks like a bowling bag and it is red from Photojojo
  • Spent the rest of the day looking for random parts for the kitchen that have been lost in the house
  • Went out for supper at Mexicali Rosa's.......Never Again
    • The prices went up
    • the beans had a crust on them they were prepped so far in advance
    • the steak from the steak fajita was beef stew quality meat.  So chewy
    • the peppers were limp and the staff insisted they were fresh
    • did you know that they had garlic bread at a mexican restaurant? neither did we and it shouldn't be on the menu.  It was baguette with garlic butter and melted cheese....not grilled more of a microwave style
  • It was the first time EVER that I have complained to staff about food quality, the manager looked like he was about 14, our waitress could of been his mother(well not exactly but close enough).  He started off by telling us that we was going to have another set of plates made for us..... I am not sure how you plan on making a new batch of beans in 5 minutes but I do not want to know.
  • He was planing on making us pay for our meal anyways but give us coupons for a free meal next time....Thanks but no thanks, WE ARE NOT COMING BACK
  • So he then just told us that he was sorry, that we would not have to pay, that he was going to tell the owner and wished us a good evening.
Amazing Birthday (sarcasm) I want a re-do

Getting ready for dad's birthday

We went to the mall yesterday to purchase presents for dad.  His birthday is coming up soon, in 8 days to be exact.  I also ordered something online for him and I really really hope that it shows up in time.  He was hard to buy for this year as he decided to purchase a bunch of things himself.  There's 23 days till my birthday.... hint hint dad and baby.
